Human beings are constantly interacting with their surroundings.
Either they are desperately longing for a relationship, or they cannot wait to cut off all attachments. People are in a state of finding something, often faithful about it regardless of knowing what it actually is.
An individual's existence is supported by the subtle balance connecting internality and externality. Interpersonal relationships cannot be simply categorized in two bins: pure friendship and romantic relationships, but appear as a spectrum of blended emotions.
Obscure meanings of dreams and reality urge us to interpret unique perceptions to the surrounding; the blurring line between one entity and another forms various personal versions of the world.

I asked Sue for a reason not suicide back in August, and she wrote: “CONNECTED”. That probably nudged me to realize the desire to create a short film.
Many split screens I drew didn’t come true. There IS something that cannot be conveyed via any form of art.
avoided assigning a specific image to the protagonist, the voice-over was recorded in a way free from gender-specific traits.
Thanks to my best partner Sue for the music support. I wrote some key hopes for background music, and her compositions fit wonderfully into the scenes. Also, thanks for her understanding so that I don’t have to hurry to express my thoughts.

I was thrilled to launch the new short film project with Xu. Working with her has always been a pleasure. She always surprises me with her unique ideas, and I love to come up with something unprecedented.
As she said, this project aimed to convey subtle ideas into concrete visuality. Through discussing split screens, lines and music, I have learnt so much about how elements of film fit together into a dynamic production, deepening understandings of her conceptual world.
This is my first time composing for film despite years of music composition learning. Translating words and images into the musical language, I enjoy manipulating the nuances in musical material to serve for emotional expressions.
